A Six-Week, Double-Blind, Multicenter, Placebo-Controlled Study Evaluating the Efficacy and Safety of Flexible Doses of Oral Ziprasidone in Outpatients with Bipolar I Depression
Summary
Approximately 1-2% of the population is affected by bipolar disorder—sometimes known as manic-depression. The symptoms come in two phases, one marked by a depressed mood, loss of pleasure, and sleeping problems; the other includes increased energy, racing thoughts, and a decreased need for sleep. This research study will investigate Geodon® (ziprasidone), which is an FDA-approved medication for schizophrenia and bipolar manic state, but is now being studied as an antidepressant for patients in bipolar depressed state.
How Can You Qualify?
Research doctors at Princeton Medical Institute are seeking people over 18 with Bipolar Disorder, Type I, who are currently experiencing a depressed state. All study related visits, laboratory work, investigational medication, transportation, and study related procedures are provided at no cost. Qualified participants may also receive up to $240.00 in compensation for time and travel.
